VISIONS OF DIGITALIZATION FROM NIEDERKRÜCHTEN ARE BECOMING A REALITY

Logistics is a fundamental component of many companies. WILMS Tiefkühl-Service GmbH—founded in 1916 as a trading company—is a wholesale and logistics firm dedicated to finding customized solutions for its customers’ daily logistics challenges, particularly in the area of frozen food logistics. It makes no difference whether these challenges involve domestic or international logistics chains. From its base in Niederkrüchten, the company always prioritizes customer needs and consistently delivers the right solution.

Given the ever-increasing digitalization of both local and international markets, it is essential for a company of this size to proactively address this pressing issue in order to ensure that it can continue to meet such basic standards for its customers in the long term.

PROJECT LAUNCH

In 2019, KEK and WILMS came together to critically examine potential future scenarios in a highly digitized environment. In doing so, they jointly identified the future need for intelligent software solutions for the “frozen food service provider of tomorrow.” It quickly became clear that digitizing business processes with SAP S/4HANA is a sensible, long-term, all-around solution for building a strong ERP foundation within the company for the future.

After a thorough analysis of WILMS’s business processes and taking long-term strategic considerations into account, the decision was made to discontinue the use of legacy standalone solutions from other software vendors and to implement SAP’s state-of-the-art logistics-specific software modules directly.

In addition to the SAP S/4HANA Digital Core, these include the complementary solutions "Extended Warehouse Management" and "Transportation Management."  

To ensure the best possible implementation of WILMS in this project, KEK is receiving active support from INFORMATICS Consulting & Development GmbH, whose expertise will be of essential value to the project, particularly in the customized design of these additional modules.
