Automation of the goods handling process

BRILLIANTLY CENTRAL

INFORMATICS has a very special relationship with 3e Handels- und Dienstleistungs AG. The leading Austrian specialty tool retailer was one of INFORMATICS’ first customers and has remained loyal to the company for over 20 years.

A high-performance, highly automated logistics system is one of the trading company’s key competitive advantages, which is why customized solutions were developed for 3e. “Most recently, we were tasked with centralizing goods receipt and the subsequent storage process at the storage location,” explains Marcel Majer. Previously, users had to switch back and forth between different tasks in SAP.

“Now, the incoming delivery note, including materials, is entered, and the system automatically searches for the corresponding purchase order to pre-fill the relevant data. The item can then be put into stock using either automatic location assignment or manual location entry.”

NO DUPLICATES

Logging also runs in the background. “The program detects when another warehouse worker has already processed the order to prevent duplication.” There is a specific logic behind this. “If a problem arises during goods receipt, it is immediately logged,” explains Majer. In a subsequent step, the program can be directly linked to quality management.
