Product Cost Controlling for FAB

The goal of the FAB ProWork business unit management was to gain clarity on costs across the eight plants in Upper Austria and to implement this information centrally in SAP in a transparent and traceable manner. In addition, the service delivery of the locations and intercompany billing were to be accurately mapped.

Project Timeline

Working with FAB ProWork, co-expert Sermet Karshon-Haider redefined relevant processes, replaced previously Excel-based processes with SAP standards, and implemented product cost controlling in the SAP modules PP, SD, and CO.

To this end, master data was reorganized, internal settlements were introduced, and organizational units were redefined. In addition, adjustments were made to the terms and conditions in cost center accounting, product cost and sales order planning, production controlling, and profit center accounting.

After a six-month project, it is now possible to clearly allocate production orders between locations. All allocations are processed in the background, requiring no effort on the part of employees.

Strategy for 2022

FAB ProWork is considering migrating to SAP S/4HANA in 2022. The current focus is on the preliminary projects. All work completed as part of this project can be carried over.

In Upper Austria, FAB ProWork operates eight facilities across six production sites that offer contract manufacturing services in the areas of packaging, assembly, and metalworking, and support one another in fulfilling orders.
