System evaluation by means of basic packages
Start now with the transition of your SAP ERP system to S/4HANA and prepare your system landscape optimally for the changeover. The following three tools for the pre-project phases create the technical prerequisites for a successful implementation project.
Basic Package No. 3: ABAP Test Cockpit
The ABAP Test Cockpit (ATC) is a framework in the field of ABAP development that allows a static code analysis of the individual extension. The ABAP Test Cockpit is used for classical quality assurance and performance checks of programmes and ensures that no messages are displayed before a transport release.
In recent years, the system conversion to SAP S/4HANA has resulted in a new test field for the ABAP Test Cockpit. This concerns the compatibility check of customer-specific ABAP code developments with the new S/4HANA system. With the help of the ABAP Test Cockpit, problems that occur can be detected earlier and the necessary corrections can be made in the development phase.
It is recommended that the ATC check be carried out continuously to ensure a complete check of the code with each release and update. Otherwise, errors can be imported into a productive environment, which can lead to consequences such as programme terminations, corruption of data and/or performance problems. Consistent ATC checks also simplify the transition to S/4HANA, as fewer programmes need to be adapted in the course of the conversion.
