Basic support for Berndorf Band regarding the HCM carve-out

The Berndorf Band Group is considered a global market leader in the manufacture of steel strips and strip processing equipment. As an innovative pioneer, the company has been working on its transition to SAP S/4HANA for some time and is simultaneously planning an HCM carve-out. The INFORMATICS Basis team has been supporting both projects since October 2020.

Since early 2021, the groundwork for INFORMATICS has been proceeding at full speed.

A new sandbox for the S/4HANA migration was set up and customized back in January, followed by various test runs and further adjustments.

For the HCM carve-out, a system copy of the existing production system was created and used as the HR system. Since SAP HCM for the S/4 On-Premise Edition has not yet been released by SAP, “EHP8 FOR SAP ERP 6.0” based on a HANA database continues to be used here.

It is common practice to separate ERP and HCM systems. The advantages include easier implementation of HR packages and a clearer separation of the systems.

The final go-live for the HCM carve-out is scheduled for late June 2021, and the S/4HANA conversion of the production system is scheduled for late October 2021.

Berndorf Band is regarded as an innovative pioneer in the transition to SAP S/4HANA. The HANA database has been in use for some time, and in October 2020, Berndorf Band presented a detailed project plan for the conversion, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2021.
