UX in internal processes: Mobile SAP Fiori Apps for LEIPA Group

From UI to UX: In terms of modern user experience, Tieto was able to optimise the procurement process of waste paper for the paper and packaging manufacturer LEIPA Group within a very short time with the help of INFORMATICS MFW.

THE CHALLENGE

The task of the LEIPA Group was to migrate two sub-systems into one SAP system and to optimise the procurement process for recovered paper. The focus was not only on increased efficiency and high user-friendliness, but also on the rapid implementation of this mobile application.

THE SOLUTION

Together with LEIPA and Consultingtalents, the concept design was developed, Tieto implemented a prototype and then incorporated the valuable user feedback into the final concept.

The INFORMATICS Product Mobile Framework (MFW) was used for the technical basis of the SAP UI5 applications. This logic enables a very short development and implementation time for SAP Fiori apps. In addition, the development of the frontend in HTML5 or JavaScrip as well as the creation of Odata services is completely omitted.

For example, the development effort for customising Fiori apps could be reduced to a third - a significant argument for the use of MFW in development work.

THE ADVANTAGES FOR THE CUSTOMER

The combination of MFW, the QM solution from Tieto and the purchasing applications from Consultingtalents enabled the fast and elegant replacement of the two sub-systems. As a result, almost the entire procurement process of the LEIPA Group is integrated in SAP ECC.

The intuitive and simple user interface keeps the internal training effort very low. In addition, the daily work processes for quality and complaints checks as well as for the storage, retrieval and transfer of recovered paper could be made more efficient.

Robert Wisheu, Director IT LEIPA Group, is enthusiastic about the many possible uses of the Fiori apps, which can be quickly implemented by Tieto using the mobile framework: "The Fiori apps created are highly praised by the departments. They are easy and intuitive to use. The SAP QM applications in particular have significantly optimised the process in terms of digitalisation."
