UX in Internal Processes: Mobile SAP Fiori Apps for LEIPA Group
OLD PAPER - NEW
From UI to UX: In line with modern user experience principles, Tieto was able to optimize the waste paper procurement process for the paper and packaging manufacturer LEIPA Group in a very short time using INFORMATICS MFW.
THE CHALLENGE
The LEIPA Group’s task was to migrate two subsystems into an SAP system and optimize the procurement process for waste paper. In addition to increased efficiency and high user-friendliness, the focus was also on the rapid implementation of this mobile application.
THE SOLUTION
The concept was developed in collaboration with LEIPA and Consultingtalents; Tieto implemented a prototype and subsequently incorporated valuable user feedback into the final concept.
The INFORMATICS Mobile Framework (MFW) was used as the technical foundation for the SAP UI5 applications. This framework enables very short development and implementation times for SAP Fiori apps. In addition, it completely eliminates the need to develop the front end in HTML5 or JavaScript and to create OData services.
As a result, the development effort required to customize Fiori apps was reduced to one-third—a compelling reason to use MFW in development work
THE BENEFITS FOR THE CUSTOMER
The combination of MFW, Tieto’s QM solution, and Consultingtalents’ procurement applications enabled the quick and seamless replacement of the two subsystems. As a result, nearly the entire procurement process of the LEIPA Group is now integrated into SAP ECC.
The intuitive and user-friendly interface keeps internal training costs very low. In addition, daily workflows for quality control and complaint handling, as well as for the receipt, dispatch, and transfer of waste paper, have been streamlined.
Robert Wisheu, Director of IT at the LEIPA Group, is enthusiastic about the wide range of applications for Fiori apps, which Tieto can quickly implement using the Mobile Framework: “The Fiori apps we’ve created have received high praise from the business units. They are simple and intuitive to use. The SAP QM applications, in particular, have significantly optimized the process in terms of digitalization.”
