SAP EHP 8 RELEASE CHANGE AT THE CITY OF LINZ
The City of Linz and INFORMATICS HR Services GmbH can now look back on a long partnership. In close cooperation with IKT Linz GmbH, we support and advise the specialist departments in all matters relating to the HR environment.
This concerns, among other things, requirements in relation to payroll (PY) or topics in the area of organisational management (OM) and personnel administration (PA), regardless of whether these are topics of ongoing support, minor adjustments are to be made or the implementation of legal changes is on the agenda.
Now the HR colleagues were able to fully support the city of Linz in another project, the SAP EHP 8 release change/upgrade in the HCM environment.
Due to this strategic decision, it became necessary to replace the customised applications. This meant that the old SAP portal with the Web Dynpro and ESS applications had to be replaced by the new SAP Fiori Launchpad. The complete configuration and setup of the SAP Fiori Launchpad was realised by Hannes Prodinger from INFORMATICS.
Afterwards, he also set up and implemented the latest SAP Fiori standard ESS applications such as team calendar, time booking corrections and absence entry. Furthermore, he implemented an RSS feed tile to display notifications.
Due to the tight schedule, the decision was already made during the project start not to build customised applications natively, but to rely on the INFORMATICS Mobile Framework. With our framework, the apps for transmission distribution and time sheets could be replaced more easily and quickly, which resulted in enormous time savings and consequently cost savings.

In the case of the PTME transaction (Time Manager's Workplace), which essentially replaces the functions of the Maintain Time Data, Time Management Worklist and Cross-Personnel and Cross-Infotype Time Recording transactions, the decision was made together with the customer and the specialist departments to replace these with SAP Screen Personas 3.0.
The software product SAP Screen Personas is included in the existing ERP license and offers the user the possibility to personalize SAP screens. Due to the individualized settings and the improved usability of the user interface, the familiarization time on the new interface could be kept as low as possible. In addition, the tool has a very good performance and enables the development of personalized, clearly structured and intuitively usable applications via drag-and-drop. Wolfgang Thurner was responsible for the implementation of this part of the project.
