Constructive. Agile. Healthy. Honest. Smart, in short: KAGes

It is a healthcare provider of superlatives: Steiermärkische Krankenanstaltengesellschaft, or KAGes for short, is one of the largest hospital companies in Europe. It has relied on INFORMATICS and a highly innovative partnership for many years.

Ten Styrian regional hospitals (LKH) and four regional care centers (LPZ) are under the umbrella of KAGes, where more than 18,000 employees at 22 locations look after the well-being of patients and those in need of care. At the LKHs alone, more than one million inpatients and outpatients receive medical and nursing care every year. In order to achieve this in the best possible quality, strong and sustainable IT solutions are required - and partners like INFORMATICS are needed.

"We entered the market in a big way during the electronic fever curve . KAGes already knew us because we have a name in the market and the relevant expertise," says Peter Altreiter, Managing Director of INFORMATICS Healthcare, looking back on the collaboration.

UNIQUE PROJECTS

In the many years of close cooperation, special projects have also been implemented, such as major extensions to i.s.h.med®: "Extensions outside the standard, such as structured orders or the examination module - things that did not exist before." The latter makes things much easier for medical and nursing staff.

"Until now, i.s.h.med® has only shown findings or appointments, but not a cross-section. The examination module now provides a holistic view. We link all objects, from the medical order for the appointment and the patient to the findings of the doctor performing the procedure, and can conclude with an electronic sign-off. That is unique." This is made possible by a visionary team from the KAGes "Medical Informatics and Processes" department. Its head, Dr. Markus Pedevilla, says of the project with INFORMATICS: "We work very closely together and are in constant consultation. It is a very intensive collaboration in all project situations. We have also mastered many go-lives and stressful situations together." Peter Altreiter can give this back: "The chemistry is right and we have managed a few adventures together with the experts at KAGes. KAGes became one of our most important customers."

MASTERING THE FUTURE WITH CONFIDENCE

Pedevilla and his team of experts, as well as the doctors and nursing staff in the clinical area, know exactly what they want and appreciate that their ideas are reflected at a technical level. "KAGes' motto is: as much standardization as possible and only as much individualization as necessary. This is how we create solutions that help the customer," says Altreiter. The KAGes fever curve, the starting point of the collaboration, has become a real reference project and is now an integral part of Cerner's presentations. "The fever curve is a project that has come to stay and with which we master challenges relating to i.s.h.med." With openness, trust and honesty, the aim is to master the challenges of the future in the same way as they have done from the very beginning.
