Investment premium for Austrian digitisation projects

From 1.09.2020 to 28.02.2021, it is possible to apply for the COVID-19 investment premium for business investments.

The COVID-19 investment premium is intended to create an incentive for business investments. Tangible and intangible new investments of depreciable fixed assets that are realised in a permanent establishment in Austria are subsidised.

INVESTMENTS EXCLUDED FROM THE SUBSIDY

Explicitly excluded are, above all, climate-damaging new investments, undeveloped land, financial assets, company takeovers and own work capitalised. Investments in the construction or expansion of plants that serve the extraction, transport or storage of fossil fuels, as well as the construction of plants that directly use fossil fuels, are considered climate-damaging investments. The investment premium for investments in existing plants that use fossil energy sources directly can only be claimed if a substantial greenhouse gas reduction is achieved through the investment.

AMOUNT OF THE INVESTMENT SUBSIDY

Funding is provided by granting an investment premium in the form of a subsidy amounting to 7 percent of the eligible costs. The grant is doubled to 14 percent if the investment is related to digitalisation, greening, health/life science.

Austria Wirtschaftsservice Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung shall be entrusted with the administration of the funding programme under this Federal Act on behalf and for the account of the Federal Government.

Funding can be applied for between 1 September 2020 and 28 February 2021.

First measures in connection with the investment must be taken between 1 August 2020 and 28 February 2021.
