MFW architecture at a glance

MFW Base: This component is installed on the backend of your on-premise system. With MFW Base, you can design the graphical interface of your MFW apps in an SAP transaction and program their business logic in ABAP
MFW Classic: The classic MFW frontend runs on an SAP gateway system and makes the MFW apps you have developed available in your company network.
MFW Cloud: The cloud front end is a service in the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) and allows you to make your apps available online.

You don't have to choose between MFW Classic or MFW Cloud. Both front ends can be operated in parallel. This allows you, for example, to operate sensitive apps only in your company network, while apps for your field staff are available online with MFW Cloud.
