Hospitals with SAP architecture often use SAP IS-H in addition to the core ERP processes. Building on ECC with IS-H, i.s.h.med® integrates: The clinical information system is at the heart of digital processes for many facilities - and has been for years.

Based on the SAP platform, i.s.h.med® consists of a proven triad: SAP ECC forms the basis for core ERP processes, SAP IS-H takes care of billing and patient administration, while i.s.h.med® from Oracle Cerner handles clinical documentation and support. This interaction has proven itself many times over - but not everything stays the same.

"Those who get to grips with future developments at an early stage can use this change as an opportunity.
But how do you find the right path? A decision tree developed by INFORMATICS helps you find the right path."
Turning point with 2030
This is because the maintenance stop of SAP ECC and IS-H in 2030 marks a clear turning point. Although SAP's RISE program offers the option of extending support until 2032, the options for i.s.h.med® are uncertain.
Oracle is giving Cerner even more breathing space with an extension for i.s.h.med® including IS-H on the basis of ECC until 2035. This solution provides customers with additional time and enables them to monitor developments relating to future successor solutions in a targeted manner before a comprehensive system changeover has to take place.
Hybrid architectures are the future
But what comes next? The fully integrated monolithic "everything from a single source" solution will no longer exist in this form. Instead, a hybrid architecture will prevail: ERP processes, for example, will run in SAP S/4HANA - whether on-premise or in the cloud - while clinical processes can continue to be managed in i.s.h.med® or its successor product from Oracle Health. New paths are also opening up for billing: from S/4-based solutions to stand-alones and Oracle Health. In future, this flexibility will make it possible to respond to the individual circumstances and requirements of each hospital.
The right way
But how do you find the right path? A decision tree developed by INFORMATICS helps you find the right path. It takes into account both business and functional requirements and supports customers in deciding on the right operating model - be it on-premise, private cloud or public cloud. This results in tailor-made, future-proof system landscapes. This does not stop at pure architecture consulting. Our experts think ahead and not only provide support with the system architecture, but also look beyond 2030 - starting with investment protection for aspects that have been implemented, through to corporate requirements and the establishment of a clinical data repository (CDR).

Maintenance extension until 2035
An additional advantage for all those who opt for the maintenance extension until 2035: They not only gain valuable time, but also room to maneuver. For example, customers can secure digitization projects funded by the Hospital Future Act (KHZG), monitor developments relating to a possible successor product for i.s.h.med® and align their strategy accordingly - with the aim of not having to face another fundamental system changeover in a few years' time.
Conclusion: The future of SAP in the clinical environment is changing. Those who get to grips with future developments at an early stage can use this change as an opportunity - for more flexibility, stability and innovation. INFORMATICS is available as an experienced and independent partner - for all those who want to shape rather than simply manage.
