Luxembourg: Synchronizing drug catalogs securely and efficiently

Medication catalogs in German hospitals contain around 200,000 entries - and they are updated monthly. Particularly affected are the items on the so-called house list, which are subject to constant change. The manual adaptation of this data between test and production systems in i.s.h.med® previously involved considerable effort and synchronization was not possible.

With MedCatSync from INFORMATICS, a fully integrated tool is now available for the first time that synchronizes medication catalogs and associated medication templates automatically, securely and without interruption - for greater efficiency and maximum data security.

International reference: successful deployment in Luxembourg

The Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg provides a pioneering example of the successful use of MedCatSync. The system was implemented here as part of an international reference project. MedCatSync ensures that all catalog and template changes remain consistent across all system environments - from the development to the acceptance to the production environment.

The procedure is clearly structured: New catalog versions are entered exclusively in the development system, where they are adapted and validated together with the medication templates. After successful testing in the acceptance system, they are transferred centrally to the production system. In this way, live operation remains stable and ongoing treatments can continue without interruption - while medication data is always up-to-date and validated.

Efficiency increases patient safety

Thanks to its complete integration in ORACLE i.s.h.med®, MedCatSync not only offers technical advantages, but also increases security in patient care. Every synchronization step is logged in an audit-proof manner. Doctors work with a clearly structured, up-to-date medication catalog and verified medication templates. Adjustments can be implemented flexibly and without risk to data integrity - with full control and traceability.
