For nearly 70 years, Hevert-Arzneimittel has been dedicated to the development and manufacture of naturopathic products and is one of Germany’s leading manufacturers of homeopathic and herbal medicines, as well as nutritional supplements. Sustainability is firmly anchored in the corporate philosophy of the family-owned company Hevert, even when it comes to SAP. This is one of the reasons why the company chose INFORMATICS Life Sciences, a life sciences specialist with 40 years of market experience.
Hevert-Arzneimittel, a company specializing in naturopathy and vital substances, is headquartered in Nussbaum, approximately 100 kilometers from Frankfurt. The family-owned business is now in its third generation and operates its own medicinal plant farm. From the plant in the field to the finished product in the hands of the user, Hevert’s commitment to the highest possible quality is a constant priority. Hevert applies this commitment to quality not only to itself and its products, but also to its IT infrastructure and its operation.
After completing the go-live with SAP S/4HANA (on-premise version) in 2021 with its previous IT partner, a reorientation became necessary. In the process, Hevert came across the Life Sciences Alliance (LSA), a partner network for validated SAP S/4HANA solutions in the pharmaceutical and medical technology SME sector, of which INFORMATICS Life Sciences is a member. Here, Hevert found industry expertise, certified staff, quality management, and partners on an equal footing with short decision-making paths.
Challenges Facing Small and Medium-Sized Businesses
Many mid-sized companies have IT landscapes that have evolved over time, consisting of custom solutions that are now difficult to maintain or update. The transition to SAP S/4HANA is often a necessary but complex step—one that carries risks for ongoing processes, compliance, and delivery capabilities. Added to this are industry-specific requirements: the validation of systems in accordance with GxP guidelines, the integration of quality management, traceability, audit trails, and regulatory reporting make the implementation of a new ERP system particularly challenging.
“Our collaboration with Hevert began on April 1, 2025. Since then, we have been working to clear the backlog of tickets and changes. In addition, a migration to SAP S/4HANA 2025 is planned for the turn of the year and into Q2 2026,” explains Wolfgang Weichselgärtner, Managing Director of INFORMATICS Life Sciences.
The collaboration is getting underway
As is always the case in the life sciences sector, GAMP5® plays a crucial role. The project kicked off with a multi-day onboarding session, followed by the development of SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for operating the installed SAP S/4HANA solution—that is, the work instructions that must be thoroughly understood and strictly followed. Also on board are colleagues from INFORMATICS Consulting & Development in Leonding, who must also possess the required qualifications and GAMP5® certifications—and indeed do so. “We always assign two people to each subproject so that there is always a contact person available for the customer in case of sick leave or vacation—here, too, we rely on Leonding.” After all, fast response times are a key requirement for the customer.
A lot has happened since April 1. INFORMATICS Life Sciences is currently working with our Austrian colleagues on the transfer of SAP maintenance and the SLA (Service Level Agreement) for monitoring the operational SAP system, with the goal of completing both tasks by the end of the year. Together, we are committed to a sustainable partnership in line with Hevert-Arzneimittel’s sustainable corporate philosophy.
