Artificial intelligence in the context of SAP - when tradition meets innovation

The 20th edition of the INFORMATICS SAPshots took place on October 16, 2025 - an anniversary that impressively demonstrated the extent to which tradition and innovative spirit complement each other at INFORMATICS. Under the motto "AI solutions in the context of SAP", customers, partners and experts met to discuss current developments, challenges and opportunities of artificial intelligence (AI) in the SAP world.

Due to the high level of interest, this time the event was held on the premises of our neighbor Haberkorn, where host Siegfried Poldlehner welcomed the participants and introduced them to the exciting but also ambivalent aspects of AI.

SAP keynote: The overall strategy for AI

The event traditionally kicked off with SAP itself, represented by Sebastian Sav, who presented SAP's overall strategy in the field of AI in his keynote speech. The presentation of SAP Joule, which not only actively supports business processes but also process design, was particularly impressive. A highlight for many guests was the information that this technology will also be available for on-premise customers in the future - an important step towards a hybrid future.

Best practices from INFORMATICS R&D

INFORMATICS juniors Larissa Malzner and Daniel Buchberger then presented their results from an internal R&D project. They gave a practical demonstration of how on-premise AI technologies can be set up and integrated into existing SAP processes. Using use cases from industry and healthcare, it became clear that AI not only means automation, but also enables a deeper understanding of data and processes.

AI in the healthcare sector: Opportunities and responsibilities

Peter Altreiter, Managing Director of INFORMATICS Healthcare, delved deeper into the topic from the perspective of the healthcare sector. In his presentation, it became clear that artificial intelligence can unleash enormous potential here - from process optimization to improved patient care. At the same time, he emphasized the need to handle sensitive data responsibly. Together with ORACLE, INFORMATICS is currently working on innovative healthcare processes for the future.

World Cafés: Exchange and discussion

After a short culinary break, the participants were invited to take part in the traditional World Café discussions at three themed tables:
1. Which AI technologies are already in use?
2. What opportunities do you see with AI technologies?
3. What risks do you see with AI technologies?

These open discussion rounds provided space for exciting perspectives, honest concerns and practice-oriented ideas - in line with the INFORMATICS guiding principle: exchange as a motor for innovation.

Legal perspectives on AI

Wojtek Dragon from Projekt29 GmbH & Co. KG then took a vivid look at the legal framework for AI applications. Data protection, liability and responsibilities were presented from different perspectives - in a practical and humorous way, making the complex topic tangible for everyone.

Conclusion with networking & culinary delights

The buffet lunch at the end of the day provided an opportunity to discuss the day's topics in a relaxed atmosphere and make new contacts. The discussions clearly showed that although AI raises many questions, it also offers enormous opportunities - especially when technology, responsibility and human judgment go hand in hand.
